Below is a log of changes and modification to QuakeManager between versions.

 

Version 3.00 Released - 01/23/2024

1. QuakeSite (new module) – Site Response Analysis: 1-D Linear and Nonlinear Site Response Analysis Module

Simulates suites of records

4. QuakeLibrary: Major improvements to ground motion database

New faster & secure database engine

Added full NGA-West2 database with ~ 20,000 records

Added full NGA Subduction database with more than 71,000 records

Added AFAD Türkiye Mw7.7 Records & aftershocks with more than 1,200 records

Added support for DYNA (Turkish records) and Greece File Formats

 

5. QuakeSignal – Signal Processing Tools:

New pulse identification tool! Identifies pulse wavelets in records and reports the pulse period, pulse velocity, pulse azimuth, etc.

Improved baseline correction

 

6. Chart Improvements: New chart abilities

Polar Plot: Visualize FN/FP and pulse directions/orientations in the polar plot

Time-Histories: Visualize Fault normal and Fault Prallel (Fnormal, Fparallel) as well as pulse (Fpulse) histories & spectra for a Triplet directly without the need for rotation.

Version 2.21 Released - 07/06/2022

 

GM Record Rotation

Allows the user to define the relative angle between the rotated H1 & H2 components.

Polar Chart

Ability to show the azimuth lines of the H1 & H2 components on the chart.

Ability to plot the polar plot consistent with the actual azimuth orientation of the record.

GM Suite Selection

Specify a target range (min,max) for the average suite duration or frequency (average of all records in a suite).

Version 2.20 Released - 05/26/2022

 

Baseline Correction Tool (New Feature!)

Applies a baseline correction to remove the drifting trends in time histories (this feature is still in beta).

 

Spectral Matching Improvements

Added adaptive matching (recalculates record targets after every step when performing mean spectral matching in order to improve match quality and convergence).

Ability to keep records from intermediate steps, which can help in tracking matching progress between steps and debugging/optimizing step selection.

Ability to specify the type and frequency of baseline correction while matching.

 

Export Library Records to csv (New Feature!)

Allows the user to export the user records and their metadata to a csv ground motion library file. These libraries can be used as a backup for later import or for sharing with other users.

 

Ability to reload records from files

Force re-read of records and their metadata from files, and re-compute Sa & IMs for the selected records. Helpful feature when the underlying file has changed and needs to be reloaded.

Spectral Matching (New Feature!)

GM Suite Selection (Improved)

Ability to define up to three target spectra for each suite. For example the user is now able to select a suite matching SRSS, Fault-Normal, and vertical targets simultaneously.

Specify a target range for the average suite magnitude and distance (e.g. to satisfy hazard de-aggregation)

Improved performance

          

Automatically calculate record Fault-normal and Fault-Parallel spectra without the need to first rotate the records.

Easy import of multiple GM records to a Suite or a Collection.

Provides helpful debugging information for files that don't match the any of the file formats.

Ground Motion Selection

1.Unique Suites: Specify that multiple returned suites are "Unique".

2.Individual Records: Return Suite with Individually Selected Optimal Records.

3.Same Scale Factor: Force all records in a suite to have the same SF.

4.Target Limits: Ability to plot Target Limits (Mean, Peaks, Valleys).

Version 1.70 Released - 03/04/2020

Support Multi-Column ground motion file format.

Using Sd, Sv or PSv target spectrum when performing Ground Motion Selection now works correctly.

Now supporting Cosmos & NBCC Canadian Ground Motion file formats.

The fitting error measure is now computed for individual records while performing Ground Motion Suite Selection, and it is also calculated for records added manually to a suite.

Added ability to rescale individual records to the optimal Scale Factor.

1. Show the 2D Bidirectional trace of Displacement, Velocity or Acceleration response at a given period

Version 1.30 Released - 12/16/2019

Key Improvements in this version:

New “Column Layout Template Manager” which allows the user to save multiple record views with different column layouts.

The “Copy Metadata” feature now copies the header and footers of the data, which makes it easy to create tables in MS Excel or Word.

Significantly faster Rotated Spectra Calculations (RotD100, RotD50 & RotD0). Calculations are up to 3x times faster!

Better control over x- and y-axis chart limits using a new option to freeze axis limits.

Improvement to GM Selection: It is now possible to filter by two different duration/frequency variables simultaneously (e.g. D5-95 and Least-Usable-Frequency).

 

Version 1.20 Released - 9/20/2019

This version includes a lot of new improvements. A summary of the key improvements is shown below, grouped by category.

Charts

Added Arias Intensity Chart

Allow normalizing any chart by x-axis or y-axis or both (useful for normalizing Arias plots)

Can now plot frequency instead of period on x-axis of spectra charts (Sa, FFT, PSd, etc)

 Target spectrum +/- Std Dev now uses the "Log Mean" and "Log Sigma" Chart toolbar options.

 

GM Library

Fixed issue with dragging and dropping files into a collection (records were occasionally going to a different collection)

QuakeManager now warns user when trying to delete or move a library record

 

Ground Motion Selection

Substantial improvement in speed and accuracy when selecting and scaling ground motion suites, especially with highly-constrained searches, for which a solution can be very difficult to find. Many cases where a rare solution could not be found (or needed a very large number of simulations) can now be found very quickly.

 

Record Import/Export

Add support for several new ground motion formats including:

Japanese KiK-net and K-NET formats

CSMIP (CGS) Format

Chile Format

New Zealand Format

RSP-Match Formats

A new generic file format that can read variations of existing formats such as NGA.

Fully import all metadata from ground motion header files (SMC/USGS, CSMIP/CGS, KiK-net, K-NET, Chile, New Zealand, etc..)

Substantially improved support for existing ground motion formats (SMC/USGS, PEER NGA, SAC-Steel)

Fixed bug causing crash when importing record metadata from a CSV file.

 

Records

Added a "Rescale" tool that allows the user to easily rescale multiple records

Added footer rows to the Report View that can show the Average, Minimum or Maximum data summaries of selected records.

In the Property pane, Collapse/expand setting is now preserved when selecting new records

Added ability to have negative scale factors for records. This is reflected in the sign of the time history, but not in the IM's or Spectra.

Added icons to Report View identifying records as "Database" or "Project" records

Added icons to Report View indicating whether a record file exists on disk

 

Spectra and Intensity Measures (IM's)

Corrected a scaling problem where in some cases, a new scale was not applied correctly for Spectra or IM's

Improved accuracy of Arias duration calculation by interpolating start and end times of the Arias intensity.

 

Project Tree

Fixed some occasional crashing issues with opening projects from the recent menu or when closing projects

Record Suites: Created a context-menu (right-click) and a Properties dialog for Record Suite objects.

Design Spectra: Corrected an issue where a Design Spectrum chart appeared stretched on some users' screen

 

Record Rotation

Fixed a problem where the "Alternate H1/H2 orientation" was not being used when requested by the user.

Fixed crash when the target folder did not exist while rotating a record.

Improved the record rotation dialog to enable/disable features based on currently selected options.

Improve rotation to Fn/Fp. Now Fp is aligned with the fault Azimuth FpAz by default (previously it could be rotated by 180-degrees).

Major upgrade of database that reduced disk space requirements, and substantially improved speed of searching & loading records

Added full "NGA-West2" database (metadata and spectra only) with about 20,000 records (60,000 components and 20,000 triplets). The trial version includes about 3400 records.

Computation of spectra was made substantially faster (now uses parallel processing)

Added CAV5 intensity measure (Cumulative Absolute Velocity measure that correlates well with liquefaction potential)

When creating a new project, show new project name in project tree.

When creating or deleting collections, update the Collection selection dropdown box in the Search Panel.

Implemented "Project" ribbon for creating and editing objects.

Fixed problems with renaming, duplicating and deleting objects, including making sure new and duplicate objects have unique names.
