Trimming

The Trimming tool shortens the duration of a ground motion record by removing data from the beginning and/or end. Trimming can be specified in different ways:

Time – Define the time duration to remove (in seconds). The number of points removed is calculated as: points removed = time (s) × samples per second

Number of Points – Specify the exact number of points to remove.

Threshold – Remove all points before (if trimming from the start) or after (if trimming from the end) the first acceleration value that exceeds the specified threshold (in units of g).

Optional Constraint:

Keep spectra within a percentage in the specified range – When enabled, trimming will be limited so that the resulting record does not cause more than the specified percentage change in the response spectrum within the chosen period range.
