Charts

A variety of charts are available to help in visualizing the ground motion record histories and spectra.

QuakeManager provides the following charts:

1.Spectra (PSa, PSv, Sd, Sa, Sv)

2.ADRS - Acceleration-Displacement Response Spectrum (Sd vs PSa)

3.FFT (Fast Fourier Transform)

4.PSD (Power Spectral Density)

5.Time history (Acceleration, Velocity, Displacement)

6.Arias Intensity

7.Polar response and envelope

8.Map of record and event locations

The charts are organized in a tabbed interface to provide quick and easy switching between different chart types. They also allow comparison of multiple records. In the example below, components 1, 2 and 3 of the Chi-Chi, Taiwan record, are shown and compared.

Exporting Chart Data

It is possible to export chart data as an image or to text tabular format (to be used in spreadsheets or other software) as follows:

1.Select the ground motion records that you want to export.

2.Click on the chart that you want to export.

3.Click the "Copy Chart Data" button (in Chart Ribbon).

4.It is also possible to export an image of the chart by clicking "Copy Chart Image".

5.Go to your target software (e.g. Microsoft Excel) and paste the data or image.

Hiding/Showing Components/Triplets

There are 3 locations in the Ribbon that allow the user to show/hide components (H1, H2, Vertical) and Triplets.

However, it is important to note the differences between these different options:

1.Hiding/showing components and Triplets from the Records Ribbon: In this case, the components are removed from the records view. Hence, they cannot be selected or plotted.

2.Hiding/showing components from the Components group under the Chart Ribbon: This hides the selected components from the chart, but the components are still included in the statistics (mean, sigma, ...). The statistics are always calculated for the currently selected records in the Records View, even if those components are not visible in the chart.

3.Hiding/showing component resultants from the Triplet Resultant group under the Chart Ribbon: In this case, the component spectra are considered "resultant spectra" of the Triplet itself. This means that it is possible to plot those component spectra without having to select the components themselves.

It is important to note the differences between the different options above. They may at first appear similar, but they provide the user with different options for filtering and showing data both in the Records View and in the charts.
