Record Suites are Project objects that are used to store a number of records (Triplets, Components or both). These records can be:
1.The results of ground motion search and filtering
2.A temporary set of records for later processing or further filtering
3.A temporary set of records for use as a source of records in GM Selection and Scaling
4.Final scaled record suite selected using GM Selection and Scaling
5.Final spectrally matched suite generated by the Spectral Matching tool
6.Final records from 1-D site response analysis
7.Artificial generated ground motion records using QuakeSim
8.Imported records using Import Tool
9.etc.
Record Suites are somewhat similar to GM Library Collections, in the sense that both are record containers, however, with some differences, as follows:
1.The main difference is that ground motion collections are saved in a ground motion database, while record suites are stored in the project. A Record Suite is saved within the Project file and is generally specific to a single project, and not shared between different projects. On the other hand, library collections are automatically saved in the ground motion library database, and they are persistent between project sessions, and can be shared among multiple projects.
2.Library Collections can be nested, i.e. a collection can have sub-collections, etc. Record Suites cannot be nested.
3.Record Suite records can be modified, for example scaled, while records in Collections cannot have a scale factor. Collection records are generally unmodified, though it is possible to export modified records to Collections.
Note that records can be copied or moved between Collections and Record Suites. The user can choose to move whole collections or record suites, by dragging the record suite or collection itself into another object. Alternatively, the user might select some of the records, and drag them individually or as a group into another Collection or Record Suite.
The record suites are shown in the Project Explorer (e.g. see below), where the number of records within the Record Suite will show up at the end of the name between parentheses (). 44 records corresponds to the 11 selected records (11 horizontal components 1, 11 horizontal components 2, 11 vertical components and 11 triplets). The 11 selected records were spectrally matched (bidirectional only without vertical), so the resulting suite compose of 11 horizontal components 1, 11 horizontal components 2, 11 triplets.
